What is the Sea Cadet Program?
The Sea Cadet Program is a free program that is part of the largest federally-sponsored youth program in Canada that includes the Royal Canadian Sea, Army and Air Cadets. It is a national program for young Canadians aged 12 to 18 who are interested in participating in a variety of fun, challenging and rewarding activities while learning about the activities of the Canadian Navy, all at no cost.
Sea Cadets are encouraged to become active, responsible members of their communities. They make valuable contributions to Canadian society on a daily basis in terms of environmental, citizenship and community activities. Sea Cadets also learn valuable life and work skills such as leadership, teamwork, citizenship and the rewards of physical fitness.
All Sea Cadets receive free sailing lessons through the Canadian Yachting Association. Every cadet may obtain qualifications up to White Sail level 2, and those who specialise in sailing can obtain their Green level instructional qualification.
